Anna Lindal

Violin

(b. 1954) Anna performs regularly as chamber musician and soloist, in experimental groups for performance and theatre, as well as in a variety of cross-genre musical collaborations such as “Ensemble Makadam” and “Tango Libre”. She was a member of the famed “Trio des Lyres”, was concert master in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm (1983-2001), and has had several violin concertos dedicated to her. Anna participated in the research project ”Towards an Expanded Field of Art Music” (2008-2012), focusing on interpretive traditions in classical and contemporary art music, also implementing collective improvisation as a tool in workshops. Anna now heads the research project “Unlearning performance” that examines the tension between tradition and modernity, convention and questioning, skills and unlearning. She is Guest Professor in Musical Performance and Dean at the Stockholm University of the Arts, as well as Vice President for the University College of Opera in Stockholm.
